Welcome

I'm Rowena, endorsed midwife and owner of Grounded Midwifery.I provide in-home continuity of care to families from early pregnancy to six weeks postpartum.My focus is on midwifery care that is tailored to each individual, is evidence-informed, warm, safe and holistic. In my experience, walking with women and families throughout the deeply transformative experiences of pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period is an honour and a true privilege.About me: I have been a midwife since 2014, and have worked primarily within continuity of care models in hospitals. I began providing homebirth services in Hobart and southern Tasmania in 2024. Before midwifery I worked within community arts and environmental activist organisations, and through this developed passion for advocacy and appreciation for the intrinsic values of personal agency and self-determination. I have a Master of Primary Maternity Care and have conducted the first research into Birth Houses in Australia. I am a parent to one amazing adult daughter.
